Drusy moissanite "black ice" is available
as preforms or as finished jewelry |

 |
Moissanite was originally discovered as tiny crystals in meteorites. In recent years, research on high performance wide band gap semiconductors
has led to growth of this mineral in the laboratory. Many of you
have seen the spin-offs of this synthetic man-made or created lab material offered as an excellent
diamond substitute. It is much harder than cubic zirconia and has
more dispersion than diamond itself. We do not offer the clear
diamond substitute form of moissanite, but can supply a unique drusy form
consisting of numerous tiny, highly reflective crystals. They are
dark in color, hence the name "black ice." The hardness is 9 1/2
on the Mohs' scale. If you buy the pre-forms, you will need diamond
cutting and grinding equipment to shape them to your needs. However,
we also offer finished jewelry to avoid this problem. You can click
